CAP Starter/ Ignitor 600w HPS & (200-600)

The C.A.P. Starter/Ignitor 600w H.P.S. is the replacement ignitor for high-pressure sodium magnetic ballasts, covering 200 to 600 W. It is the part that generates the high-voltage pulse needed to ignite the HPS bulb: when the ballast hums but the lamp doesn't light up, or takes a very long time to start, the ignitor is usually the component that has failed. Replacing it saves you from discarding an otherwise healthy ballast.

How to use

Unplug the ballast from the power supply and discharge the capacitor before opening the housing. Remove the damaged ignitor, noting the position of each wire, and connect the new one, strictly following that order. Close the housing before energizing, and if you do not have experience with electrical installations, leave the replacement to a technician.

Instructions for use

• First, confirm that the fault is with the starter: the typical symptom is that the ballast hums but the bulb does not light up

• Verify that your ballast's wattage is within the 200 to 600 W range and compare the replacement with the original part
• Installation involves working with high-voltage wiring: if you don't have experience, entrust it to an electrician
• Respect the order and polarity of the original wiring, secure the splices, and confirm the ground connection
• Store the replacement in a dry and dust-free place until installation
