Grodan partnered with Wageningen University and Research Institute in the Netherlands and top growers in North America to identify optimal rockwool substrate and irrigation strategies for specialized crops. The result of months of scientific research and testing is the Grodan Gro-Blocks Improved with Grodan's Advanced Wetting Agent.

These cutting-edge blocks have the optimal fiber structure and physical properties for crop uniformity, a more even distribution of Water Content (WC) and Electrical Conductivity (EC) throughout the block, and the greatest available handling capacity. Water distribution is more uniform throughout the block, which is the basis of a well-defined root system with greater water and nutrient absorption capacity to produce robust and vigorous crops.

The new and improved wetting agent, along with hydrophilic technology, significantly improves the water characteristics of Grodan Gro-Blocks Improved, achieving an even better water distribution throughout the entire height of the block. This translates into greater plant development, better crop management, and more efficient use of water and nutrients.

The optimized wool structure allows for faster rooting and more agile replenishment of the nutrient solution, while the Gro-Block Improved maintains its structure, firmness, and rigidity throughout the entire growing process.

How to use

• Pre-soak in pH-adjusted water (5.5–6.0) for 1 hour until completely saturated before planting
• Insert the plug with the rooted seedling into the central hole at the time of transplanting
• Drip irrigate directly onto the block — irrigate frequently in small doses
• Monitor the EC of the drainage and adjust the irrigation concentration throughout the growing cycle
• Store unused blocks in their original packaging in a dry place — do not expose to UV light
