The electrode is the consumable part of a pH meter; it is what actually takes the measurement. All pH electrodes wear out over time and must be replaced. If your meter has trouble calibrating or the reading drifts, the electrode is most likely in poor condition.

How to Use
- Remove the old electrode and attach the replacement by screwing or snapping it into place according to the meter's instructions
- Condition the new electrode by submerging the tip in pH 4.01 solution or storage solution for 30–60 minutes before first use
- Recalibrate the meter immediately after installing a new electrode
- Store the electrode tip in storage solution when not in use: never store it dry
- Replace it when calibration cannot be achieved within 2 points of the buffer value
