Descripción del producto
Blacktail Mountain watermelon seeds are an open-pollinated heirloom variety, known for being one of the earliest watermelons to ripen. It solves the challenge of harvesting watermelon when the heat window is short or the weather is inconsistent: it produces 8 to 12-pound fruits, with dark green skin and sweet red flesh, in about 70 to 75 days from transplanting.
Benefits
- Early ripening: harvests sooner than traditional watermelons.
- Manageable fruit size, easy to cut and store.
- Good performance in heat and with moderate irrigation once established.
- Fruits keep for several weeks after harvest.
- Open-pollinated: you can save your own seeds.
How to Use
Start seeds in trays about 3 or 4 weeks before transplanting, or direct sow when the soil is warm. Locate plants in full sun, in fertile, well-drained soil, with ample space as the vines spread quite a bit. Water deeply and reduce watering as the fruit approaches harvest to concentrate sweetness. Harvest when the tendril closest to the fruit dries out and the bottom spot turns yellow.
